Introducing Trade and Transport Logistics and the Supply Chain - This module takes a broad view of transport logistics when we examine its role in trade and how this is then connected to the business concept of supply chain management.
Managing Freight Transport, Modes, Rates and Best Practice - In this major and core module, we will explore the methods used in transport, along with the various ways that freight charges are calculated. We then continue by looking into the outsourcing of transport to contractors/third-party logistics services providers before concluding by looking at possible transport improvements and best practice.
Managing the Commercial Aspects of International Trade - In this module we examine the many and varied commercial aspects of international trade, such as Incoterms, payments and documentation. Finally we include some case studies so that you have some more evidence of practical applications on the topic of third-party transport covered in Modules 1 and 2.
Using Customs Tariffs during Export, Transit and Import - In this module, we examine the important regulations of Customs authorities. In doing this, for foundation building purposes, we will mainly use the Customs rules as these regulations share many aspects with other countries. However, you are encouraged to be alert to your own local, national and regional variations: we will use some self-directed learning sections to do this. Finally, basic import and export procedures will be examined.
Evaluating Legal Aspects and Liabilities - In this module, we examine legal practices covering contract law, agents/principal relationships and transport carrier liabilities, before concluding by looking at arranging marine/cargo insurance and terms and conditions.
